The Rooted Method Holistic Services

As an experienced clinical nutrition practitioner and holistic hormone coach, my aim is to meet you where you’re at with the type of support you need to thrive.

Listed below are my holistic services including The Rooted Method Nutrition Coaching Program, clinical nutrition assessments, and functional testing.

If you’re looking for support with your mental health, and are interested in counselling services please navigate to the “counselling services tab.” I approach all of my clinical nutrition work from a trauma-informed lens, but please note that counselling services and nutrition services can not be combined, and individuals can not work with me in both capacities. Because of the holistic nature of coaching we do discuss stress regulation techniques as a part of your program, however this is not a substitute for clinical counselling.

The Rooted Method Signature Nutrition Program

Single Session Clinical Nutrition Assessment

  • As a clinical nutritionist, your health and well-being are my utmost priority. It's very important to me that you feel seen and heard during your consultation as I know how challenging it can be to navigate getting support for chronic health issues.

Know that whatever you bring in whether it feels big, or small, is valid.

Your consultation will consist of a personal health assessment of over 100 biomarkers, including, but not limited to, your medical history, family medical history, current symptoms, food preferences, supplements, medications, cycle history, life stressors, sleep, any diagnosis you wish to disclose and movement.

Using this information we will co-create a mini protocol that focuses on targeted nutritional interventions, supplements suggestions, lifestyle modifications and is in line with your specific goals.

My areas of specialty are chronic digestive issues such as SIBO and IBS, hormonal imbalances such as PCOS and painful PMS, overall lifestyle optimization for fertility and preparing for menopause.

This 1:1 assessment is curated for highly motivated individuals who do not struggle to implement change in their lives.

Functional Testing Options

Testing is only available upon consultation after assessment to ensure you’re getting the most effective support and not purchasing a test that is not supportive of your individual needs.

  • Why should I get GI Map Testing?

Research overwhelmingly indicates that gut health impacts overall health. The gut microbiome plays a critical role in mediating the effects of diet and other factors on digestive, immune, metabolic, skin, brain, and neuroendocrine health.

Results allow us to personalize support protocols that optimize overall health and get to the root cause of chronic conditions.

Almost every person can benefit from a GI-MAP gut health assessment. Some people are looking to achieve optimal health, while other people have been chronically ill and frustrated without support for years.

Some conditions that warrant testing are:

    • Autoimmune diseases

    • IBS

    • Digestive complaints, diarrhea, or constipation

    • Brain fog

    • Skin problems, like acne, eczema and psoriasis

    • Mood disorders, depression, and anxiety

    • Diabetes

    What does this test cover?

The GI Map looks at bacterial pathogens, parasitic pathogens, viral pathogens, H. Pylori, levels of normal/commensal bacteria, dysbiotic bacteria, potential autoimmune triggers, fungi/yeast, worms, and key digestive health markers.

    What does this test require?

This is a DNA stool test that is sent to the comfort of your home. It is then sent off to the lab and analyzed by the highest quality equipment available.

  • What is SIBO?

SIBO stands for “small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.” It’s a condition where there is an abnormal amount of bacteria in the small intestine. Normally the small intestine has a relatively low amount of bacteria compared to the large intestine. In SIBO, these bacteria can interfere with the normal digestion and absorption of food, leading to a variety of symptoms.

When should testing for SIBO be considered?

Symptoms of SIBO are non-specific, encompassing abdominal pain/distention, diarrhea, and gas.

Conditions also commonly associated with SIBO include:

    • IBS

    • IBD

    • Celiac Disease

    • Diabetes

    • Fibromyalgia

    • Rosacea

    • Unexplained shifts in body composition

Risk factors for developing SIBO include structural/anatomic issues, motility disorders, organ system dysfunction, elderly age, and various medications (recurrent antibiotics, PPIs) that alter the gut microflora populations.

    What is a SIBO test?

SIBO Profiles are non-invasive breath tests that capture exhaled hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) gases following ingestion of a lactulose solution to measure bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine.

What can you expect from SIBO breath testing?
In general, management of the SIBO client involves antimicrobial support, prokinetic agents, nutritional therapy, and assessment of comorbid conditions. It’s important to address the reasoning behind the overgrowth, not just the overgrowth itself or it is likely it will continue to be a challenge.

  • What is a Hormone Test?

The test that we utilize is called the "DUTCH Complete" hormone test. The Dutch Complete is Precision Analytical Labs' flagship test that takes hormone testing to a whole new level. This test looks at an extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones, along with their metabolites, to identify symptoms of hormonal imbalances. Easily collected in the comfort of your own home, samples are then sent to the lab to be processed.

    The results include:

    • 35 different hormones: estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, and cortisol along with their metabolites

    • Daily free cortisol patterns to provide insight into adrenal insufficiency or symptoms of chronic stress

    • Graphical representation of results

    • DUTCH OATs: Oxidative stress marker – 8-Hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), melatonin (6-OHMS), and six organic acid tests (OATs) including markers for vitamin B12 (methylmalonate), vitamin B6 (xanthurenate), kynurenate, glutathione (pyroglutamate), dopamine (homovanillate), norepinephrine/epinephrine (vanilmandelate).

    How can this help me?

This is a valuable tool to optimize hormone health and address hormone-related symptoms such as:

    • Chronic Fatigue

    • Unexplained weight gain

    • Hair loss

    • Gut dysbiosis

    • Mood swings and PMS

    • Irregular Cycles

    • Insomnia

    • Depression or anxiety

    • Loss of resiliency

How is this different from other hormone tests?

Easier Collection: Clients collect just four or five dried urine samples over a 24-hour period. Dried samples are stable for several weeks making them convenient to ship worldwide.

Comprehensive Report: DUTCH offers the most extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones along with their metabolites.

Backed by Research: Precision Analytical’s testing methods go through a rigorous validation process to verify accuracy, recovery, and linearity. Click here to see the latest published research to support the analytical and clinical validation of this powerful new testing model.

What’s the difference between a hormone test and a stress test?

If you do not want to test the full panel, The DUTCH Adrenal provides free cortisol patterns with the addition of metabolite measurements for an improved marker for total cortisol production. This can be supportive for chronic fatigue, stress and insomnia.

    The results include:

    • Daily free cortisol pattern (4)

    • Daily free cortisone pattern (4)

    • Cortisol metabolites (a-THF, b-THF)

    • Cortisone metabolites (b-THE)

    • DHEAs

  • What is hair mineral testing?

A Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis will help you to accurately and efficiently address the specific mineral imbalances in your body.

Hair testing is an affordable,  and non-invasive way to discover your body’s unique biomedical status. A hair tissue mineral analysis will help you to efficiently address the specific mineral imbalances in your body.
